Your guide drives you 45 minutes into Kananaskis Country to the river launch. The Kananaskis runs Class II-III rapids that are splashy and continuous without being intimidating. The dam upstream keeps the flow steady all summer, so conditions don't depend on snowmelt or recent rain the way most Rocky Mountain rivers do. Between rapids you float beneath canyon walls where bald eagles, deer, and occasionally bears appear on the banks.

Your certified guide handles the technical decisions and steers the raft while you paddle, laugh, and get soaked. Wetsuits, wetsuit jackets, neoprene booties, helmets and PFDs are all provided. Bring a swimsuit, towel and shoes that can get wet. The trip takes four hours total, including the drive, safety briefing, paddle lesson and roughly two hours on the water. Solo travelers are welcome: trips run with as few as one guest. Complimentary photos are included in the price, so you leave with images from the day.
