The experience
Four hours of instruction on the water beats a video or a book. You'll wade the shoreline of the Columbia, Akolkolex or Eagle Rivers depending on water conditions and season, and your guide will walk you through casting methods, lure selection, how to tie different fishing knots, and how to identify what you're after. The choice between fly-fishing and spin casting is yours. The guide adjusts to what you want to learn.
All the gear stays with the outfitter: you get a rod and reel (fly or spinning), waders, flies or lures, and the knowledge of where to place them. The guide also captures photos and videos during the trip, so you leave with proof of what you caught and how you did it. Trips run on the Columbia River for the first couple months of operation, then shift to other rivers as water conditions change.
The walk-and-wade format means you're moving along the bank, not sitting in a boat. Moderate fitness helps. The guide will tell you what the water and the wading demand before you book. If you're staying in Revelstoke without a car, confirm the meeting point when you reserve. The guide can advise on how to get there.
