The experience
The tour leaves Montreal at 7:00 am and heads straight to the 1000 Islands for a guided boat tour past dozens of islands, fairytale castles, lighthouses and island mansions, with stories of pirates and bootleggers woven through the narration. After the cruise, you arrive in Toronto in the afternoon to see Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, which holds 20,000 aquatic animals and features North America's longest underwater viewing tunnel, plus close encounters with horseshoe crabs, sharks and stingrays.
Day two is built around Niagara Falls. You board the Hornblower Cruise to approach the American Falls, Bridal Veil Falls and the heart of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, feeling the mist and hearing the roar up close. From May through October, the cruise is the main event. From November through April, you explore the tunnels at the bottom of the Horseshoe Falls instead. After the Falls, you spend time in Niagara-on-the-Lake, a 19th-century town across the Niagara River known for its wineries and tree-lined Queen Street, then visit the Niagara Falls IMAX Theatre to see exhibits on the Falls' history and daredevil stunts.
The final morning in Toronto includes Casa Loma, Canada's majestic castle and the city's premier historic attraction. You also have the option to visit CN Tower again if you didn't do the EdgeWalk on day one: the tower stands 553 meters tall with views across the city. Transport returns you to Montreal by 8:30 pm. Two nights' hotel accommodation are included, based on quad occupancy (four people sharing a room), along with all roundtrip transport from Montreal.
