The experience
What makes a snowmobile easy to ride? The equipment. Old machines fight you: stiff steering, clunky controls, cold hands. The 2025 Skidoo Expedition machines here have heated handlebars and throttle, heated helmets, and responsive steering that lets you turn without fighting the sled. You get one of these new sleds for your hour, not a worn-out fleet bike passed through a dozen riders that morning.
The trails run through country that sees almost no foot traffic outside of this season. You're not following a groomed path. You're riding across genuine backcountry where wildlife moves through regularly. A guide leads the way and handles the route, so you focus on the ride itself. Whether you're learning to snowmobile for the first time or you've ridden before, the private setup means no waiting, no pacing to a group, and room to ride at the speed that suits you.
Pickup is included, and you'll need to bring warm layers. The heated gear helps, but a good winter jacket and snow pants matter. The guide speaks English and will brief you on the machine before you head out.

Top questions
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. No refund if you cancel.
Can I ride a snowmobile if I've never done it before?
Yes. The guide will show you how to operate the 2025 Skidoo before you leave, and the responsive steering makes these machines much easier to control than older models. The private format means there's no rush while you learn.
What wildlife might I see on the trails?
The backcountry around Yellowknife is home to moose, caribou, foxes and other animals that move through the region. Sightings are never guaranteed, but the remote trails you travel see so few humans that wildlife encounters are a real possibility.
How warm will I actually be on a snowmobile for an hour?
The heated handlebars, heated throttle and heated helmet liner all work together to keep your hands and head warm. Bring insulated winter layers underneath (a good jacket, snow pants and warm socks), and you'll stay comfortable even in Yellowknife's deep cold.
Do I need a license to ride?
A valid driver's license is required. The guide will verify it before the ride begins.
What's included in the price?
The snowmobile, all heated gear, the guide, and pickup from your hotel or accommodation are included. You bring your own winter clothing and gloves.
