The experience
The day starts with pickup from your Yellowknife accommodation and a drive to the dog sledding venue. Once there, you'll meet the dog team before departure: time to pet them and take pictures with the musher. Then you're on the sled as the dogs pull you through snow-filled trails in the surrounding landscape. The ride itself lasts roughly an hour, moving at the pace the dogs set.
Back at the cabin, you'll sit with the mushing family over warm tea and homemade bannock while they share the history and traditions of dog mushing, including stories tied to Indigenous practices in the region. A fur display is part of the cabin time. You're free to photograph the dogs, the family, and the setting before the return drive to your hotel.
