The experience
The day starts with pickup from your Santos hotel or airport, then the drive into São Paulo proper. Once there, you'll visit MAC USP (the Museum of Contemporary Art housed in an Oscar Niemeyer building opposite Ibirapuera Park), where a 360-degree rooftop terrace overlooks the entire city. From there, the tour moves through Ibirapuera's monuments: the 72-meter Obelisk honoring the 1932 Constitutionalist Revolution, and the Monument to the Bandeiras, a 50-meter granite sculpture depicting the explorers and diverse peoples who shaped Brazil's interior.
The route then takes you to Batman Alley in Vila Madalena, an open-air gallery of constantly changing graffiti murals surrounded by cafes and alternative shops, before heading into the city's historic core. You'll see Pátio do Colégio, where Jesuit priests founded São Paulo in 1554; the São Bento Monastery with its ornate interior; Brazil's first skyscraper, the Martinelli Building; and the Viaduto do Chá (Tea Viaduct), which frames the Anhangabaú Valley. The Theatro Municipal de São Paulo, an architectural landmark that has hosted world-class performances, closes this section of the tour.
Sé Cathedral (one of the world's largest Neo-Gothic churches, inaugurated in 1954) stands at the heart of the city with its colorful stained-glass windows and Renaissance dome. The Liberdade neighborhood follows, a district shaped by Japanese and other Asian immigration, where red lanterns, Kanji signage, and traditional architecture create a distinct cultural pocket within the metropolis. Your guide will point out local curiosities, help you try a traditional pastel (savory pastry), and suggest photo stops throughout. The experience is fully adapted to your preferences, and return transport to your Santos hotel or airport is included.
