You travel by cog train through the Tijuca Rainforest to Christ Redeemer on Corcovado Mountain with skip-the-line access, spend 40 minutes at the summit with a multilingual audio guide, and stop at Maracanã Stadium for exterior photos on the way. Hotel pickup and drop-off in the south zone are included, so you don't arrange transport or buy tickets separately.
The train leaves Cosme Velho Station and enters the Tijuca Rainforest, the largest urban forest in the world, covering 7% of Rio's territory. For twenty minutes the cog train winds upward through dense green, and you're not fighting a queue or a traffic jam — your tickets are pre-reserved, which means you skip the line that forms at ground level. The forest thins as you rise, and then you step out onto the platform at Corcovado Mountain, where the Christ Redeemer statue stands 38 meters tall with its arms open toward the Atlantic. From there you can see the whole south zone, the lagoons, all the way to Niterói across the bay.
Before the train ride, the tour picks you up from your hotel in Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon or São Conrado and drives you past Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon — a salt-water lagoon connected to the ocean by a canal, where your guide talks about Rio's four biggest soccer clubs and the rivalries that matter here. Then you stop at Maracanã Stadium for photos. The stadium opened in 1950 when Brazil hosted its first World Cup, and it's hosted two World Cup Finals and the recent Olympics. You circle it, take pictures, and move on. No entry inside, just the exterior and the history.
At the summit you get about 40 minutes. You can take the lift and escalator to the top, or climb the 222 stairs the traditional way — the views are the same either way. A live audio guide in nine languages walks you through what you're looking at. After you've circled the statue and shot the photos, the train brings you back down through the forest, and your driver returns you to your hotel. The whole thing runs half a day, which leaves the rest of Rio open to you.
Your tour includes hotel pickup and drop-off in the south zone (Copacabana, Ipanema, Leblon, São Conrado), a drive past Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon with commentary on Rio's soccer culture, an exterior stop at Maracanã Stadium, skip-the-line train tickets from Cosme Velho Station through the Tijuca Rainforest to Corcovado Mountain, access to the Christ Redeemer statue, approximately 40 minutes at the summit, and a live audio guide available in nine languages. A professional tour guide accompanies the group.
