The experience
Can you hike four of Isla Grande's most remote beaches in a single day? The Super Trail connects them across 22 kilometers of Atlantic Forest, technical descents and isolated stretches that separate serious hikers from casual walkers. The route starts at Abraão before dawn, 6:30am, and doesn't finish until late afternoon, moving through two river valleys, past preserved coves where snorkeling is possible, and across long exposed sections that test both legs and lungs. This is not a loop. It is a one-way crossing that ends at Lopes Mendes, one of Brazil's most photographed beaches, where a taxi boat carries you back to Abraão by water.
What makes this trail "super" is the density of ecosystems and landmarks packed into one push. You start in the lowland forest near Dois Rios, climb into technical terrain around Caxadaço (a wild, snorkel-worthy cove), then descend toward Santo Antônio before the final stretch to Lopes Mendes. The guide handles navigation and pacing. You handle the physical demand. Trekking sticks are provided to absorb impact on the descents. Adventure insurance covers the activity itself. Everything else (water, snacks, a change of clothes for swimming, insect repellent, sunscreen, a waterproof jacket) travels in your own backpack. The trail is steep enough and long enough that poor preparation becomes obvious fast. The operator lists high endurance, strength and previous long-trail experience as non-negotiable.
The day ends not with a walk back but with a taxi boat ride from Lopes Mendes to Abraão, a separate cost of 50 reals per person. That boat is the only way out. There is no road. Guides speak English, Spanish or Portuguese, and the minimum age is 22: a threshold that reflects the physical demand rather than any safety rule. Bring a plastic bag to carry out your own garbage. The remote areas stay that way because hikers leave them that way.

Is this one for you? This trail suits experienced hikers who have trained for long distances and steep terrain, and who want to string four remote beaches together in one immersive day rather than visit them separately over multiple trips. The 12-hour commitment and advanced difficulty mean it is built for hikers ready to push, not for those testing their fitness for the first time.

Top questions

Live guide in English, Spanish and Portuguese.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
How long does the Super Trail take from start to finish?
The hike runs from 6:30am to 5:30pm. A full 12 hours including the taxi boat return to Abraão. Plan for an early start and a late finish.
What is Caxadaço Beach like, and can you swim there?
Caxadaço is a wild, preserved cove on the route where snorkeling is possible. Bring swimming clothes and a towel if you want to stop and enter the water. The guide can advise on conditions.
What physical fitness do I need for this trail?
The operator rates it Difficult/Advanced and requires high endurance, strength and previous experience on long trails. A taxi boat picks you up from Lopes Mendes and returns you to Abraão. This boat ride costs 50 reals per person and is not included in the tour price.
