The experience

The tour starts with a 4x4 pickup from your Jericoacoara hotel and a drive to Barreirinhas, where you check into a bed-and-breakfast for two nights. Day two splits into two parts: a morning departure around 9:00 a.m. takes you by 4x4 to the Preguiças River, where you cruise toward the dunes and stop at Blue Lagoon for swimming and rest. In the afternoon, around 2:00 p.m., you head back out into the dunes to reach Beautiful Lagoon, with time to bathe and watch the sunset before returning to Barreirinhas by 7:30 p.m.

Both lagoon tours run with an accredited local guide and travel in a 4x4 vehicle built for sand and river crossings. The route follows established trails through the dunes. Swimming stops are built into each lagoon visit. On day three, the driver collects you from the hotel and takes you back to Jericoacoara. Breakfast is served each morning at the B&B, and all entrance fees to the lagoons and parks are already paid.
