The experience
Day one starts with pickup at 7 AM from Livingstone or Victoria Falls, followed by a 15-minute drive to the Kazungula Border Post where you meet your Kalahari Tours guide. After a light breakfast at Coffee Buzz (muffins, scones, fruit, tea and coffee), you board a boat for a mid-morning cruise on the Chobe River, where hippos, elephants and water birds congregate along the banks. Lunch returns you to Coffee Buzz before an afternoon game drive through Chobe National Park in a specially adapted 4x4, heading toward the campsite where you'll spend the night in a domestic tent, listening to the bush sounds around you.
Day two begins at 6 AM with continental breakfast in camp, then a game drive through the park as the animals are most active. A brunch break (timing flexible depending on wildlife sightings and your guide's preference) gives you time to rest before a final afternoon game drive. By 4:30 PM you're dropped at the border to meet your onward transport to Livingstone, Victoria Falls, or any facility in Kasane town. The guide is with you throughout both days, and the 4x4 vehicles are equipped specifically for game viewing: windows positioned for photography and sightings from every seat.
Kalahari Tours has operated in the area for over 25 years and employs professional guides trained in wildlife behavior and park ecology. The company is based in Chobe itself, just 80 km from Victoria Falls, which keeps the transfer time short and lets you maximize hours in the park. Minimum age is 12. The tour involves vehicle travel over rough terrain and early starts, so moderate fitness is needed.

Top questions
What animals will I see on the Chobe River boat cruise?
The Chobe River attracts hippos, elephants, buffalo and water birds year-round, especially in the dry season when animals gather at the water. Your guide will point out species and behavior as you cruise, though specific sightings vary by season and time of day.
How much driving is involved on the game drives?
You'll spend roughly three to four hours in the 4x4 on each of the two days, split into morning and afternoon sessions with a brunch break between them. The vehicle is adapted for wildlife viewing with positioned windows and an experienced driver who knows where animals congregate.
What's the camping accommodation like?
You sleep in a domestic tent at the Kalahari Tours campsite in Chobe National Park. The camp provides dinner and breakfast, and you'll hear the sounds of the bush around you at night: part of the African safari experience, though not a luxury lodge setup.
Can I be picked up from my hotel in Livingstone or Victoria Falls?
Yes, pickup is included from any facility close to Livingstone or Victoria Falls at 7 AM on day one. You can also arrange drop-off at any facility in Kasane town on day two instead of the border post if that suits your onward plans.
Is the 2-day trip enough time to see Chobe properly?
Two full days gives you a boat cruise and two game drives across different times of day, when animal activity peaks. It's enough to see the park's main wildlife and landscape without the time commitment of a longer safari, though a 4-day trip would cover more ground.
