The hike starts from Umoljani, a medieval village on the southern slopes of Bjelašnica mountain, where your guide will brief you on the day ahead. You'll make a short stop at Dolovi to see the ancient necropolis and learn about Bosnian history, then begin the main trek. The route follows Studeni Potok stream for two kilometers and runs mostly along the edge of Rakitnica Canyon: the views open up across the gorge as you climb. Before reaching Lukomir, you'll pass the 40-meter Peruće Waterfall and walk through Gradina, a highland summer settlement where herders still bring livestock to graze in the warmer months.
