The experience

The tour moves through Bonaire at your pace, not a group's schedule. You start in Kralendijk at Kaya Grandi, the main street lined with shops, restaurants and government buildings, then head north past Harbour Village Marina and the island's resort cluster: Den Laman, Sand Dollar, Captain Don's Habitat and others. The route follows the coast road toward BOPEC, the old oil storage plant, and stops for five minutes at 1000 Steps, a staircase that descends to a viewpoint below.

Goto Lake sits on the way north, fed by rainwater and open to the Caribbean, so the water mixes fresh and salt. It draws flamingos and other birds, and you stop at a viewing point to take it in. The tour passes through Rincon, the oldest settlement on the island, tucked into a valley where residents once lived out of sight from pirates, and swings by the landsailing area where locals race carts downhill. It ends at Seru Largu, the highest point on Bonaire, with views across both coasts and Klein Bonaire. The remaining time is travel between pickup and drop-off.

Your guide is a real local, often with years as a taxi driver and guide, and knows the island's history and culture in detail. You can ask them to linger longer at any stop or skip ahead if something doesn't interest you. The route is yours to shape. The vehicle is air-conditioned, and pickup from your hotel or location is included.
