The experience
You choose which reef site suits your comfort level and interests before you book. Hol Chan Marine Reserve draws snorkelers who want to see nurse sharks and rays in shallow water surrounded by coral; Shark Ray Alley puts you in deeper channels where both species hunt and feed; Coral Gardens stays shallow with dense tropical fish and formations ideal for beginners or anyone who prefers calmer water. The operator's local guides know each site's conditions and marine life, so they can steer you toward the one that matches what you came to see.
The morning runs three hours total. You slip into crystal-clear water where vibrant coral, tropical fish, rays, and nurse sharks are the ordinary sights, not the exception. The guide shares what the reef actually is as you move through it: how the coral grows, which fish hunt together, why the sharks are there. Small-group snorkeling means you're not one of fifty masks in the water. It also means the guide can adjust the pace and the stops if someone needs more time or wants to move on.
Soda and bottled water come with the booking. Snorkel gear is included in some options and available to rent in others, so check which site you've chosen at checkout. The activity is built for swimmers with at least moderate fitness. The water itself is warm and the reef is close to shore, but you'll be in motion for the full three hours.
