A one-hour Boeing 737 flight simulator session where you take the captain's seat, learn the cockpit controls and basic aviation principles, then execute takeoff, cruise and landing from an airport of your choice. A live guide in English or Dutch walks you through the controls. Minimum age is 15. Bottled water, coffee and tea are included.

The experience

What separates this from watching a flight video is that you're holding the yoke. After a briefing on the B737 cockpit, the main instruments and how they work, you take the controls from your chosen departure airport. You execute the takeoff yourself: managing throttle, pitch and the sequence of actions that get the aircraft airborne. Then you fly a full cruise leg to a nearby destination airport, staying on course and managing the aircraft as a real pilot would.

The landing is the payoff. You descend, line up with the runway, manage your approach speed and altitude, and put the aircraft down. A live guide in English or Dutch is with you throughout, coaching you through each phase and explaining what the instruments are telling you. The session runs one hour total, so the pacing is tight. You're not sitting idle between phases. Bottled water, coffee and tea are available during the flight.

You pick which airport you depart from and which one you land at. The simulator has thousands available. If you want a visual tour over a city like Hong Kong, Istanbul or San Francisco while you're airborne, that's an optional add. The minimum age is 15, and the experience suits any fitness level, though it's not recommended for pregnant travelers or anyone with cardiovascular concerns.
