  • Walk to Harrismith Beach
  • See upside down boulder and estate ruins

The experience

The tour starts with pickup and a drive to Ragged Point Lighthouse on Barbados's east coast, where you get views across the entire shoreline. From there, the guide takes you to Culpepper Island, an off-the-beaten-track spot that most visitors never reach. A short ten-minute hike through a shaded canopy of trees brings the island into view, and at low tide the crossing is straightforward: you wade through five feet of water wearing a personal life vest that's included in the cost. The closest point between the islands is roughly 150 feet.

Bottom Bay comes next: one of the most photographed beaches on the island, with white sand and tall coconut trees rising above the cliff. The light and the backdrop make it a natural for photos. Harrismith Beach is a ten-minute walk along the cliff from Bottom Bay. There you'll see an upside-down boulder tossed from the ocean by a tsunami and the ruins of Harrismith great house, which frames the landscape for more pictures.

The group size stays at three travelers maximum, so the pace is set around what you want to do at each stop. Bottled water is provided throughout. A live English-speaking guide leads the tour and handles the transport, so you don't need a rental car or local knowledge to reach these spots.
