The experience
Lalbagh Fort anchors the morning: a 17th-century Mughal structure built by Prince Muhammad Azam but never finished, now a museum that sits quiet against the city's rush. From there the guide moves through Old Dhaka's religious crossroads: the Dhakeshwari Temple, one of Bangladesh's most important Hindu shrines; the Star Mosque with its ornate blue-star motifs in the Armanitola area; and the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection, a remnant of the Armenian community's presence in the city. Ahsan Manzil, the former residence of the Nawab of Dhaka, opens as a heritage museum (entrance fee separate from the tour price).
Sadarghat Port comes into view as a working river hub on the Buriganga River: one of Dhaka's busiest and most iconic places, where constant river traffic makes it a living snapshot of how the city moves. A rickshaw ride is built into the day, giving you the street-level pace of the city itself. Lunch is included, and you travel by local transport: car, tuk-tuk or rickshaw depending on the route and traffic. The guide speaks English throughout and handles the logistics. You just show up at your hotel for pickup.
Curzon Hall on the University of Dhaka campus and the Language Martyrs Monument (built to commemorate the 1952 Language Movement) round out the cultural layer. New Market, one of Dhaka's oldest shopping areas, offers a chance to see the secondhand book trade, printing presses and street food if time allows. The itinerary can shift based on what you want to see first, so mention any priorities when you book.
