The experience
Fourteen hours gives you time to move through the region without rushing. You start in Khankendi, where the Parliament Building and Nana Baba Monument set the context before heading into Shusha proper. The route takes you to the Yukhari Govhar Agha Mosque, recently restored with its twin minarets and detailed stonework still intact, and then to the 18th-century Shusha Fortress, whose stone walls and arched gates sit high enough to command views across the surrounding mountains and valleys.
Jidir Duzu Plateau breaks up the day with open landscape: a place where the mountains and valleys spread out in front of you without obstruction. You'll also stop at the Mausoleum of Molla Panah Vagif, the 18th-century poet whose reconstructed tomb blends traditional and modern design, and the Natavan Museum, which holds the legacy of one of Azerbaijan's most celebrated poets alongside the famous Natavan Fountain. Isa Spring, known for its clear water, gives you a quiet moment to rest and take photographs before the drive back.
A professional guide travels with your group and speaks English, Spanish, Italian, Russian, or one additional language. You choose at booking. Lunch is a separate cost and happens in Khankendi, where you can order freshly prepared local dishes. Transport is comfortable, and entry to every site on the itinerary is included, as is the permission required to enter the Karabakh zone itself.
