This is the oldest concert hall in Vienna, built into what was once Mozart's first apartment in the city, part of the monastery of the German Teutonic Order. He lived here in 1781 while working for Archbishop Colloredo. The Mozart Ensemble performs here now, a piano trio that plays the works Mozart himself knew: his own compositions alongside Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin. The trio moves through piano works and solo pieces for violin and cello, each one performed with the kind of precision that only comes from knowing these pieces inside out.
