Watch the sky shift colours while dolphins ride the bow

A 90-minute sunset sail departing from Rottnest Island aboard the Capella, a 12.5m luxury catamaran, with complimentary bubbles and shared antipasto included. The boat carries up to 24 passengers and is led by a live English-speaking guide. Guests should arrive 15 minutes early. The tour departs and returns to Rottnest Island after dusk, so you'll need to be staying on the island as the last ferry back to Perth leaves before the sail ends.

Step-by-step itinerary

Sunset sail and dolphin watching

  • Board luxury catamaran Capella
  • Enjoy complimentary glass of bubbles
  • Nibble on shared antipasto
  • Sail off into the sunset
  • Watch for dolphins at bow
  • Optional swim or relax on cargo net
  • Enjoy 360-degree views inside and out

The experience

The Capella is a 12.5m Schionning Cosmos catamaran built for charter, with 360-degree views from both an indoor lounge and outdoor seating. You board with a complimentary glass of bubbles and a shared antipasto platter as the boat leaves the dock. The sail follows the sunset over the Indian Ocean, with Vlaming Lighthouse as your backdrop, and dolphins often ride along the bow. On warmer evenings, you can jump in for a swim using the cargo net: a saltwater waterfall effect as the boat moves through the water.

The tour runs 90 minutes and ends after dusk, which is why it's only available to guests staying overnight on Rottnest Island. The last ferry back to Perth departs before the sail finishes. You'll need to arrange your own transport to the island by ferry beforehand. Arrive at least 15 minutes early to board, and note that if you're late or don't show up, your ticket is forfeited. Children are welcome from age 4, and infants sit on an adult's lap. The operator has been running charters in Western Australia for over 15 years.

What’s included
