The experience

The drive up Tamborine Mountain takes you out of the Gold Coast beaches and into rainforest with views back over the entire coast. You arrive around 10am at the first of two family-run vineyards where a local guide leads the tasting. The second winery follows the same way. Two tastings are included in the price: anything beyond that you pay for as you go, and the same applies to lunch, which you pick from eateries scattered across the mountain.

After the tastings, the hop-on-hop-off bus becomes your tool for the rest of the day. Gallery Walk, a cluster of shops and galleries on the mountain, is the main stop, but you can get off wherever interests you and rejoin the bus when you're ready. The flexible schedule means you spend an hour browsing or twenty minutes, whatever fits. The bus runs until 3:30pm, when the final pickup back to Gold Coast begins. You're back in the city by 5pm.

Pickup happens from designated Gold Coast locations between 8:30 and 9am, so you don't need a car or a ride to get started. The whole day runs about eight hours from door to door.
