SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium sits here at the harbour too, and it's the kind of place where you lose track of time. The Great Barrier Reef zone has a 100-metre tunnel where sharks and rays swim overhead, and there's a Penguin Expedition boat ride that cuts through the sub-Antarctic section. Over 13,000 animals live in six million litres of water across the different zones — Day and Night on the Reef, Shark Valley, Dugong Island. If you want to go deeper, you can book a behind-the-scenes fish feeding or a shark dive experience on top of your pass entry. The aquarium opens at 9:30am most days, so you can start early or come back later in the week.

Sydney Tower Eye sits 250 metres above street level and gives you the clearest read on the whole city layout — the harbour, the bridge, the suburbs spreading out in every direction. Winter offers the sharpest visibility; autumn brings the best sunsets if you time it right. Madame Tussauds is also in Darling Harbour, with new interactive zones where you can wield Wonder Woman's wrist gauntlets or help Superman lift a helicopter. It opens at 10am daily. WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo, also at Aquarium Wharf, is where you walk among kangaroos, meet koalas up close at Koala Encounters, and stand face-to-face with a saltwater crocodile in Kakadu Gorge. The keeper talks run throughout the day, and the whole zoo opens from 10am.
