Step-by-step itinerary

  • Arrive 30 minutes early

  • Receive safety briefing from pilot
  • Board private helicopter
  • Fly Southern route with cultural storytelling
  • View Royal National Park and rock engravings

The Experience

You step out of the car at Aero Logistics Helibase in Mascot and the first thing that happens isn't boarding—it's the Welcome to Country. Local First Nations custodians lead a Smoking Ceremony on the ground, and you share native flavours morning tea before the rotors even turn. That 30 minutes on Country sets the whole flight apart. It's not a scenic helicopter ride with cultural commentary bolted on; the culture is the reason you're here, and it starts before you leave the tarmac.

Then you climb into the private helicopter—your group only, a licensed pilot, and an Aboriginal cultural facilitator who stays with you the whole flight. The Northern route takes you over Sydney Harbour, the Opera House and Harbour Bridge, then inland to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, where ancient rock engraving sites appear below and the facilitator tells you what they mean, what Country they sit on, the stories held there. The Southern route flies over Royal National Park and the Bidjigal, Dharawal and Gweagal coastline, with the same live storytelling from the air. You choose 35 or 45 minutes depending on how far you want to go, and the aircraft—Robinson R66 or Bell 407—is confirmed at booking based on your group size.

Natcha Cultural Tours is Aboriginal-owned, founded by Eric Brown, a descendant of the Yuin, Bidjigal, Dharawal and Gundungarra peoples. That matters. The facilitator flying with you isn't reading from a script; they're sharing lived heritage and knowledge of their own Country. You arrive 30 minutes early, bring a reusable water bottle for refills on board, and wear layers and sun protection—the helibase has on-site parking, and if you need a hotel or cruise-terminal transfer, you can arrange that when you book.
