Velvet Inferno runs through September 2026, and it's a 70-minute non-stop disco spectacular inspired by the legendary Studio 54 in New York. The stage fills with powerhouse vocals, gravity-defying circus acts, and timeless dancefloor anthems — the kind you'll want to sing along to. The story follows a young woman walking into the club, and from there, Country Mike (played by Brendan Maclean) and The Diva (Marcia Hines) take you on a groovy coming-of-age journey that builds all the way through.
You pick up your tickets from the Sydney Opera House Box Office starting one hour before the show begins. The venue recommends arriving at least 30 minutes early to get through security, collect your ticket, and find your performance space — the Opera House has seven different venues, so knowing where you're headed matters. Best available seating means you're getting one of the top levels in the house for a world-class performance. Bags larger than an A4 piece of paper need to be cloaked (stored), and Opera House security will scan your bag at the door, so plan for that.
A few things to know before you book: some performances contain nudity, strobing lights, haze, and smoke, so check the Sydney Opera House website if you're sensitive to those. Children 15 and under need an adult with them. If you're arriving late, don't — if the show has started, you won't be let in. Wheelchair access is available, but not all seats work for wheelchairs, so let the venue know when you book if you need assistance and they'll allocate the right spot.
