One to two hours is the window, but the runs themselves are unlimited. You get picked up by 4WD, driven to Stockton Beach—the massive sand mass that dominates Port Stephens—and handed a sandboard with instruction on how to ride it. The guide stays with you, and the rule is simple: no standing up on the board. That constraint is what keeps the runs safe and lets you focus on the speed and the angle of descent instead of balance.

The dunes here are the largest moving coastal sand mass in the Southern Hemisphere, which means the slopes shift and the runs change. You can ride the same line twice and find it different.
