The lesson happens on land first, then you paddle for an hour.

A 90-minute stand up paddle group lesson on Noosa River in Noosaville pairs land-based instruction with a one-hour board session, suited to all experience levels from age 8 onward. An experienced coach teaches paddle strokes, board control and turns in a relaxed group setting; board and paddle hire, safety advice and instruction are included. Held three times daily.

The Experience

The lesson starts on land with an experienced coach who walks you through the fundamentals: how to hold the paddle, the mechanics of different strokes, how to turn and control the board's direction. This part matters because it builds the muscle memory and confidence before you step onto the water. You'll learn the basics whether you've never stood on a board or you're looking to refine technique you already have.

Once you move to the water, you get a full hour on the board with your coach nearby. The Noosa River waterways are calm and sheltered, which is why the lesson works for all fitness levels and ages. You'll paddle through the pristine waterways of Noosaville at your own pace, practicing what you learned on land and getting comfortable with the board beneath your feet. The group stays small enough that the coach can watch and adjust your form.

Board and paddle are included in the lesson, along with all safety advice and instruction. The whole thing runs 90 minutes, and the operator holds three sessions daily, so you can fit it into your schedule without reshaping the day around it.

What’s included

Is this one for you? Most paddling lessons on the Sunshine Coast skip the land-based setup and put you straight on the board; this one builds your foundation on shore first, so the hour on the water actually sticks and you leave knowing what you're doing instead of just getting wet.
