The Experience
You start the morning at Clifford's Honey Farm, where you taste honey and learn about the Ligurian Bee while browsing the gift shop. From there, the guide takes you to Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Oil Distillery to try eucalyptus drops, taste ciders, and see how the distillery works. Mid-morning you stop at Emu Bay Lavender Farm for tea or coffee and a lavender scone, with time to walk the grounds and shop.
The afternoon centers on wine and spirits. At Bay of Shoal Wines you taste while looking out over the bay, then move on to Kangaroo Island Spirits to sample award-winning gin, vodka and liqueurs in a rustic setting. You choose lunch at either Kangaroo Island Fresh Seafood or Cactus Cafe — the guide can advise but does not arrange it. If time allows, a stop at one more winery rounds out the day before the drive back to your accommodation.
The eight-hour tour includes pickup and drop-off at your hotel or guesthouse, all tastings at the five venues, and the morning tea with scone. You bring your own appetite for lunch and decide what to order when you get there. A live guide in English leads the whole route and handles the stops; children from three years old can come along, and anyone under 18 cannot participate in the tastings.
