The experience
The tour departs Sydney and heads north to Hunter Valley, where you'll spend the day moving between small, family-owned wineries and producers. Your guide takes you behind the scenes at the first stop (into a vineyard, winery production area or both), so you understand what you're tasting before the first wine tasting begins. The stops are deliberately small operations, which means you'll actually meet the people who make what you're drinking and get a real sense of how the region works.
Lunch lands at a winery or one of several other venues the operator uses, and it's included: wood-fired pizzas, salads and your choice of beer, wine or soft drink. After that comes a local distillery's cellar door for gin, vodka and liqueur tasting, then a second winery where wine is paired with local cheeses. The final stop is your call: either a wine-and-chocolate pairing or a paddle of locally made craft beers. The whole day runs about 11 and a half hours from pickup to drop-off.
Vehicles hold between 12 and 22 passengers, so it's a shared tour with other travelers. Your guide speaks English and knows the region well enough to take you to producers most visitors miss. Pickup is included from Sydney. If you need wheelchair accommodation, contact the operator before booking, as the vehicles don't have lifts or ramps and can only fit foldable chairs.

Top questions
What exactly happens on the vineyard tour at the first stop?
Your guide takes you into a vineyard, winery production area or both, walking you through how the operation works before the first wine tasting begins. It's hands-on enough to understand what you're about to taste.
Can I choose between wine and beer tastings throughout the day?
You have real choices at two points: at lunch you pick beer, wine or soft drink. At the final stop you choose either a wine-and-chocolate pairing or a craft beer paddle. The other tastings (wines at two wineries, spirits at the distillery) are part of the standard route.
Is lunch included, and what if I have dietary preferences?
Lunch is included and usually features wood-fired pizzas and salads at a winery or other local venue. Your drink is your choice of beer, wine or soft drink. Contact the operator before booking if you have specific dietary needs.
How long is the full day, and what time does pickup happen?
The tour runs about 11 and a half hours total, including pickup from Sydney and return. Confirm your pickup time and location when you book.
What's the group size on this tour?
Vehicles hold between 12 and 22 passengers including the driver, so you're traveling with other guests. The operator deliberately visits small family-run wineries so the group can meet the makers at each stop.
