The Experience
How do you taste wines from two regions without worrying about driving? This tour handles the route and the stops—you handle the tasting. The day starts with a drive to a local family-owned vineyard, then moves through 3 to 4 additional small, handpicked vineyards where you'll sample wines and learn about the local grape varieties that define the Derwent and Coal River valleys. The operator picks the order based on availability and weather, so no two days run quite the same way.
Between vineyard stops, you'll walk through historic Richmond and see Australia's oldest bridge. A cheese tasting at Wicked Cheese Co. breaks up the afternoon. Lunch happens in Richmond Village—that's your own cost, averaging around $30—but the wine tastings, water and transport are all covered. The air-conditioned vehicle means you're not standing in the sun between stops, and the small group size keeps the pace manageable.
The tour runs 7 hours total. Pickup is included, so you don't arrange your own way to the first vineyard. Minimum age is 18. If the weather shifts or a vineyard isn't available on your day, the operator will substitute a similar venue rather than skip the stop.

- All wine tastings across the 4 vineyards.
