Dive inside a scuttled naval ship teeming with marine life on two thrilling dives

A double dive on the HMAS Swan wreck, a 113-meter decommissioned naval destroyer sitting 32 meters deep off the coast of Dunsborough. You make two dives on the same wreck site, exploring the interior of the ship and the hull where schools of bull's eye fish, King George whiting, brim, samson fish and blue devil are commonly seen. Certified open water divers only. This is an unguided dive and does not include gear rental: select the option with gear hire if you need equipment. Tea, coffee and light refreshments are included.

The experience

The HMAS Swan was a decommissioned naval destroyer deliberately scuttled in 1997 to create a dive site. At 113 meters long, it is one of the largest accessible wreck dives in the Southern Hemisphere. The wreck sits in 32 meters of water at its deepest point but rises to just 5 meters, so different sections suit different depths and experience levels. Two dives on the same site means you can explore different parts of the ship (rooms, corridors, the hull) without the logistics of moving between locations.

Marine life has colonized the wreck since it went down. Bull's eye fish school inside the ship's rooms, while King George whiting and brim circle the hull. Samson fish, blue devil and sweep are also commonly spotted. The wreck itself is the attraction: you navigate the interior structure, not just swim around the outside. Fast dive charter boats carry you out and back, with tea, coffee and light refreshments on board. The whole outing takes around five hours.

What’s included
