The experience

Willie Creek Pearl Farm, one of Australia's most decorated pearl producers, runs this one-of-a-kind experience at their Elizabeth Quay showroom in Perth. You arrive to Margaret River sparkling wine and pearl meat canapés, a rare delicacy, while a guide walks you through why Western Australia grows some of the world's finest pearls, from the history of the trade to the exact methods used in modern cultured pearl farming. The presentation is unhurried. The whole experience runs about an hour and stays private, just you and your guest.

Then comes the moment: you're invited to harvest your own pearl straight from its oyster. The value stays unknown until you open it. Depending on what's inside, the pearl could be worth anywhere from $500 to $3,000 AUD, and it's yours to keep. If it falls below $500, you receive a $500 jewellery gift card instead. If it exceeds $3,000, you get a $3,000 card. After the harvest, the guide takes you through the grading process and shows you how to have your pearl set into a piece of jewellery: custom settings are available for an additional cost.
