The experience

The boat leaves Yeppoon daily and heads to Great Keppel Island, one of 17 beaches surrounding the main island in the Keppel Group. The crew picks the snorkeling sites based on the day's conditions and visibility, so you get the best coral reefs and marine life the reef has to offer: turtles, rays, dugong and whales are common. You'll spend the day swimming, snorkeling and paddling in the fringing coral reefs that sit metres off the shore, moving between secluded white-sand beaches and bays as the crew navigates the water.

Morning tea arrives on deck, then a buffet lunch is served onboard while you rest between swims. All snorkeling gear is provided, along with stand-up paddle boards, floaty bean bags and pool noodles if you want to float without swimming. The boat has a restroom, fresh water, coolers and ice. You're welcome to bring your own alcohol and light refreshments to enjoy throughout the day. The crew will keep them cold. Vegan and vegetarian options are available in the lunch menu, and the operator can accommodate other dietary requirements if you mention them when you book.

The crew are experienced and local to the islands, so they share knowledge of the marine life and the Keppel Islands as you move through the day. The group stays small, which means less crowding at the snorkeling sites and more room to move on the boat. The trip suits all fitness levels, and infants and small children can travel in a pram or stroller.
