High ropes and zipline adventure

  • Complete over 100 challenges

The Experience

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary sits less than 200m from the beach in dense rainforest, and the zipline and ropes course hangs suspended in that canopy. You'll spend 3.5 hours climbing, jumping and pulling yourself through more than 100 challenges, then soaring down 14 ziplines—some reaching 100m—while the ground below holds kangaroos and crocodiles. The setup is fully supervised but completely self-paced, so you move through each circuit at your own speed and stop when you need to.

Seven courses run from easy green circuits designed for the whole family up to black diamond extreme. The first two green courses let you build confidence in the treetop canopy and get used to the height. From there the courses step up with huge ziplines, ninja-style obstacles and genuine heights that ask you to face your fears at every turn. All safety equipment and full training are included, so you arrive with no prior experience needed—just the minimum height requirement of 160 cm (to the palms of your hands with both arms stretched above your head) and a moderate level of physical fitness.

Entry to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary itself is not required for the zipline and ropes course, though spectators who want to watch from the ground will need to purchase a separate sanctuary ticket. Public transportation options run nearby if you're not driving.

Top questions

What's the difference between the green and black diamond courses at Currumbin?

The green courses are the first two and are designed for the whole family to build confidence in the canopy. The black diamond extreme courses come later in the sequence and involve huge ziplines, ninja games, stunning heights and challenges meant to push your limits.

Can I zipline over the crocodiles at Currumbin?

Yes—Currumbin has Australia's only zipline over a crocodile enclosure. You'll soar over them as part of the 14 ziplines woven through the adventure.

Do I need to have done a ropes course before?

No. All safety equipment and full training are included, so you arrive with no prior experience needed. The courses are self-paced, so you move through each one at your own speed and can take time to adjust to the height.

How long does the whole activity take?

The zipline and ropes course takes around 3.5 hours from start to finish, and you control the pace through each circuit.

Can my child do this if they're 8 years old?

Children from age 8 are welcome, provided they reach 160 cm tall when both hands are stretched above their head. Parents are allowed to watch from the ground but cannot climb the courses with their child.

Is entry to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary included?

No—entry to the sanctuary itself is not required for the zipline and ropes course. Spectators who want to watch from the ground will need to purchase a separate sanctuary ticket to enter.
