The Experience

Your day splits into two halves, each one separate enough that you can pace yourself. Start at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, where you walk through habitats with koalas, kangaroos, and crocodiles, watch keeper talks, and move at your own speed through the grounds. The sanctuary sits 200 metres from Currumbin Beach, so the setting is open and light. After you've spent time on the ground, you move to TreeTop Challenge Adventure Park, which operates inside the same property—no transport needed between them.

TreeTop Challenge is where the physical work begins. You'll strap into safety gear (provided and fitted for you), get a briefing on how to move through the course, and then spend roughly three hours working through circuits at your own pace. The 14 ziplines are the headline, but the real count is the 100+ obstacles: rope swings, climbing walls, ninja-style balance challenges, platforms suspended above the canopy, and leaps between trees. The courses are graded by difficulty—green for beginners, black diamond for the extreme end—so you pick the lines that match your nerve and fitness. The famous Croc Shock zipline lets you soar above the animal enclosures below. Long hair needs to be tied back, and you'll need at least moderate fitness to move through the day without stopping often.

The whole experience runs eight hours from start to finish. Children from age 8 can participate if they reach 160cm in height; younger kids or those below the height line can purchase a spectator pass and watch from designated areas. Adults accompanying non-participating children will need to arrange that pass at the sanctuary gate before heading to TreeTop. The activity isn't suitable if you've had recent surgery, chronic joint issues, spinal injuries, or poor cardiovascular health; pregnancy also rules it out. Public transport reaches the sanctuary, so you don't need a rental car to get there.
