The experience
The coach leaves from your Alice Springs hotel and heads south toward Uluru. As you travel, the driver-guide talks through the natural and geological history of the desert landscape: what grows here, what lives here, why the rocks formed the way they did. The outback stations you pass are still working cattle and sheep country, and the scale of it becomes clear only when you are moving through it for hours.
Mount Conner appears roughly halfway through the journey. It is the third monolith of Central Australia, less famous than Uluru but striking in its own right, and the coach stops so you can photograph it. This is the main photo opportunity on the route, and it breaks up the drive before the final stretch into Uluru.
The vehicle is air-conditioned and seats are arranged for a shared transfer, so you travel with other passengers heading the same direction. Hotel drop-off at Uluru is included, which means the driver takes you to your accommodation rather than leaving you at a central point.
