The experience

The van door slid open and that first slap of warm Aruba air hit me: salty but with this faint green scent. We’d barely buckled up before our guide, Maria, started chatting about Divi Divi trees (they really do lean like they’re always bracing for wind). First stop was the Aruba Aloe Factory & Museum. I didn’t expect to care much about aloe but honestly, watching them slice those thick leaves open, gel so clear it looked fake, I got weirdly into it. The factory had this clean, almost medicinal smell, and the shop was tempting. I bought a tiny bottle for sunburns because…well, you never know.
