The experience
You're picked up and driven to Dilijan, where Haghartsin monastery sits in one of Armenia's most forested resorts. The complex took three centuries to build (founded in the 10th century and completed in the 13th), and the setting itself is the draw: deep woods, quiet, the kind of place where time moves differently. On the way, you stop at Tsakhkadzor, one of Armenia's ski resorts, where Kecharis monastery dates to the 9th century. The resort also has a zipline stretching about 1,000 meters if you want to add that, though it's not part of the tour itself.
Lake Sevan is the centerpiece: the second-highest freshwater lake in the world, sitting at 1,900 meters above sea level in the Gegharkunik region. You drive to Sevanavank, a 9th-century monastery on the Sevan peninsula at 2,000 meters, where the view across the water and mountains is the kind of thing people remember. The lake itself is cold year-round because of the altitude, so bring warm clothes even in summer. Tsakhkadzor is equally high and equally chilly.
Because there's no set schedule or time limit, you move at your own speed. The guide handles the route and the stories. You decide how long to stay at each stop. The vehicle is comfortable with air conditioning, and the driver knows the roads. Pickup and drop-off are included, so you don't arrange transport separately.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Russian.
What is Haghartsin monastery and why is it worth the trip to Dilijan?
Haghartsin is a monastery complex built between the 10th and 13th centuries, set deep in Dilijan's forest in one of Armenia's most beautiful mountain resorts. The location itself (peaceful, surrounded by trees) is as much the draw as the architecture.
How high is Lake Sevan and what makes it different from other lakes?
Lake Sevan sits at 1,900 meters above sea level, making it the second-highest freshwater lake in the world. It's located in the Gegharkunik region high in the mountains, and the altitude means the water and air are cold year-round.
What can I do at Tsakhkadzor besides see Kecharis monastery?
Tsakhkadzor is one of Armenia's ski resorts. Beyond visiting the 9th-century Kecharis monastery there, you can ride a zipline about 1,000 meters long or take the ropeway if you want to add those activities, though they're not included in the tour itself.
Is there a time limit for how long I can spend at each stop?
No. The tour has no fixed schedule or time limit, so you spend as long as you want at Haghartsin, Lake Sevan, Sevanavank or any other stop. You set the pace and enjoy the day without hurrying.
What should I wear or bring for this tour?
Bring warm clothes. Lake Sevan and Tsakhkadzor are both high-altitude locations where the weather is noticeably colder than lower elevations, even in summer. The specific layers depend on the season, but layering is always a good idea.
