The experience

The route follows National Route 237 north through mountain scenery, passing seven lakes (Correntoso, Espejo, Villarino, Falkner, Hermoso, Meliquina and finally Lake Lacar) each one framed by Patagonian Andean forest and peaks. The winding road itself is the journey. You sit in a comfortable vehicle and watch the landscape change as the guide points out what's ahead. The drive takes most of the day, but the scenery doesn't repeat.

San Martín de los Andes sits on Lake Lacar's shore and you get free time to walk the city center, browse the shops and architecture, or simply sit by the water. Lunch isn't included, but you can buy it in town on the way through. The return follows the same route so you see the lakes and forest from a different angle on the way back.

Hotel pickup and dropoff are arranged for you, and the group stays small: no more than 18 people. Children from age 4 are welcome, and service animals can travel with you. The tour runs 7 hours total.
