The experience
The Sarmiento House anchors the opening: built in 1811 and declared Argentina's first National Historic Landmark a century later, it holds the fig tree where Doña Paula Albarracín sat. The tree still stands in the central patio, and the photo under its shade is one of San Juan's emblematic moments. From there, the tour moves through the city's reconstruction after the 1944 earthquake, stopping at the Cathedral with its Romanesque design and the concert hall that holds the country's only German organ, its tubes arranged by material and size to shape the sound.
The route then opens into the Zonda, a park district built at the turn of the last century as a summer retreat for San Juan families. The Garden of the Poets sits within a four-kilometer circuit along the creek, its oval coat-of-arms design made from exotic trees and shrubs visible from a 70-meter lookout point. On the way to the final stop at the Dike, you pass through an olive oil factory and a wine cellar, both included as working stops, and see the San Juan River where the Aguas Blancas Park holds an artificial wave: the site of the country's last freestyle kayak competition in 2017.
An air-conditioned vehicle and bilingual guide (English or Spanish) handle the logistics. Hotel pickup and drop-off are included. Departures run at 9:30am or 2:30pm depending on the language option you choose at checkout.

Top questions
What languages is the tour guided in?
Live guide in English and Spanish.
What is the Sarmiento House and why does the tour start there?
The Sarmiento House, built in 1811, was declared Argentina's first National Historic Landmark and holds the fig tree of Doña Paula Albarracín in its central patio: a landmark photo spot and the entry point to San Juan's colonial history.
Why was San Juan's Cathedral rebuilt, and what makes it unusual?
The Cathedral was rebuilt after the 1944 earthquake that destroyed the city. Its Romanesque design, inaugurated in 1979, replaced the ancient cathedral San Juan never had, and it now stands as a main example of the city's reconstruction.
What is special about the concert hall on this tour?
The concert hall is unique in Argentina, featuring wooden walls and ceiling, carpeted floors with leather seats, and a German organ with tubes of different materials and sizes that create distinct tones.
Does the tour include stops at wineries or food producers?
Yes, on the way to the Dike you stop at both an olive oil factory and a wine cellar, giving a glimpse of San Juan's agricultural production.
Can I choose between morning and afternoon departures?
The tour offers both 9:30am and 2:30pm departures. You select your preferred time and language (English or Spanish) when booking.
