The experience
The tour picks you up at your Mendoza hotel and drives about an hour to Maipú, where the two wineries are located. At each one, the specialized staff walk through how the wine is made and aged, then you taste a range of their own styles. The wineries on rotation include Don Arturo, Florio, Vistandes, Cecchin, Domiciano, Carmine Granata, Carinae, and López, so which two you visit depends on the day and availability.
After the wineries, you stop at a small olive oil factory (Pasrai y Laur is the regular producer), where staff guide you through the pressing and bottling process. Olive oil is one of Mendoza's leading exports, and this stop shows how it moves from harvest to bottle. You'll have the chance to taste and buy at each location, and you can bring up to six bottles per person back on the plane in hand luggage if you choose to purchase.
The bus returns to Mendoza city and drops you back at your hotel around 7pm. A bilingual guide (English and Spanish) travels with the group the whole way, and the bus has air-conditioning and heating. Wear comfortable clothes and footwear for the season, bring sunscreen and a hat in summer, and carry cash, not all wineries take credit cards.
