You start with a transfer from your El Calafate accommodation to Los Glaciares National Park, traveling Route 11 through the Patagonian steppe. After the walkways, you board a boat for approximately one hour on Lake Argentino, approaching the glacier's wall directly. The boat gives you a scale the walkways cannot: standing on the water in front of it is a different thing than viewing it from land. You return to El Calafate by the same route in the afternoon, arriving with time to rest before dinner.
