The experience

The show runs 1 hour 15 minutes inside a theatre that was built as a cinema and restored to its original Art Deco detail. More than 30 artists (dancers in period costumes, live musicians and singers) perform choreographed tango stories that trace the history of the dance through Buenos Aires' golden age. The staging, lighting and music are all built around the tango itself, not around a dinner table, so the performance holds the room's attention from start to finish.

If you add the dinner option, you eat a three-course meal before the show begins. The menu mixes Argentine culinary tradition with international touches and includes vegetarian choices. Wine is unlimited, as are soft drinks. The show-only option comes with drinks but no food. Either way, shared transportation picks you up from your neighbourhood (Downtown, Recoleta, Puerto Madero or San Telmo) between 7:15pm and 8:30pm, depending on where you're staying. The whole evening runs between 2 and 4 hours depending on which option you book.
