The venue itself matters. Tango Porteño was a Metro Goldwyn Mayer cinema, the kind of place that would have shown Sinatra films in the 1950s, and the restoration kept the bones of that era—the balconies, the deep red seats, the sense of being inside something that belonged to another time. You arrive on your own around 9:40 p.m. (the show starts at 10 p.m.), which gives you time to walk the neighborhood and feel the city at night before you sit down. The location in the theater is assigned based on availability, so you don't choose your seat, but the house is small enough that sightlines work from most places. Beverages aren't included in the ticket price, but you can buy drinks at the theater itself.
