The experience
Day one starts with pickup at 6:30 am from your Salta accommodation. The guide will text you when they're outside. After a breakfast stop, you head into the Cafayate Quebrada to see Devil's Throat, a dramatic rock formation carved by the Río de las Conchas, then the Amphitheater and three photographic stops at natural rock crossings. The winery visit comes next. You tour the vineyards and taste local wines. Which winery depends on availability that day. You then have two free hours in the town of Cafayate to eat lunch and walk around before the return drive to Salta, with another technical stop on the way back.
Day two begins at 6:30 am with another pickup. You drive north to Purmamarca, a small colonial town, then Tilcara, known for its adobe buildings and history. In Humahuaca, the main stop, you get free time for lunch and to explore. Climbing to the Hill of 14 Colors is optional and costs extra. On the return, the guide stops at the Tropic of Capricorn for photos and at the Painter's Palette, a hillside with bands of colored rock. You're back in Salta by evening.
The vehicle is air-conditioned and seats groups together. Support is available 24/7 if you need to reach the operator. Wheelchair access is available throughout, and the tour suits all fitness levels, though the optional hill climb in Humahuaca is steeper.
