The experience

You meet at the Sea Breeze Boat Tour stand on Rruga 2 Dhjetori at the Himarë mini dock and board for either the morning or afternoon departure. The boat works through 11 stops in sequence: the Pirate's Cave, the Submarine Tunnel, Gjipe Bay, Saint Theodore's Cave, the Pigeon's Cave, the beaches of Filikuri and Llamani, and several more. Most stops are photo pauses of five minutes each (enough to frame the coastline, the turquoise water or the cliffside formations), but three of them break into proper swimming time: a 30-minute session partway through, a 40-minute swim inside a massive coastal cavern, and a final 30-minute break at a beach reachable only by boat.

Snorkelling equipment, life jackets and safety gear come with the tour. The guide speaks English and leads the group through the route, and the crew is trained in medical response. The boat ride back to the dock takes 15–20 minutes, landing you back by early afternoon or early evening depending on which departure you chose. Bottled water is provided throughout.

What is the Submarine Tunnel, and do we swim through it?

The Submarine Tunnel is a sea cave formation along the Himarë coastline that the boat passes through as a photo stop. It is not a swimming location. You view and photograph it from the boat during a five-minute pause.
