The experience
The day starts at a central meeting point in Saranda, where your guide meets you and drives through the Bistrica River valley toward the Blue Eye. The road passes through forest and alongside clear water before you reach the parking area. From there, you walk about 12 minutes to the spring itself, or take the optional one-way train ride for a slower, more scenic approach (3€ each way, seasonal). At the Blue Eye, you have free time to swim in the cold water, take photos, grab a coffee, or simply sit by the spring. There's no fixed schedule here. You move at your own pace and walk back to the parking area when you're ready.
The second half of the day heads to Lekursi Castle, timed so you arrive as the sun begins to drop. From one of the highest points above Saranda, the views stretch across the Ionian Sea, the Bistrica River, Lake Butrint, the city below, villages around Corfu, and Ksamil. You watch the sunset from the castle before returning to Saranda.
