The experience
How do you reach Theth without a car and a map of mountain roads? This tour handles the driving (two hours each way through the Albanian Alps), and the navigation, leaving you to step out at the stops that matter. You start in Shkoder with coffee or tea, then climb toward Boge, where the peaks and the village open up below you in a single view. The road climbs higher still, and you stop again to drink coffee and breathe the air before dropping into Theth itself.
Theth sits in a valley ringed by stone peaks. The village is built of stone, and the church has stood through invasions and centuries. From there, you walk to the Blue Eye: a spring where the water runs so clear and so blue that the color seems impossible. The guide leads you through each stop and explains what you're standing in front of. The vehicle waits between them. The whole day is 10 hours, which includes the driving, the exploring, and the time to stop and photograph.
You travel in an air-conditioned vehicle with a licensed guide who speaks English. Bottled water comes with you. Lunch is your own choice and cost. The tour builds in time for it, but the meal itself is not part of the booking.

How much walking is involved in this tour?
The tour includes walking from the vehicle to the Blue Eye spring and through Theth village to see the church and stone buildings, but the distances are short. Most of the day is spent at viewpoints and stops where you stand and take in the view rather than hike long trails.
What's the road like between Shkoder and Theth?
The route climbs into the Albanian Alps on mountain roads. The vehicle is air-conditioned and comfortable, and the drive takes about 2 hours each way. The road is off-road in sections, which is why the tour requires travelers in good physical condition.
