The experience
The day starts at the Lion and Cheetah Park, where a guided drive-through takes you through designated areas to watch lions, cheetahs, giraffes, antelope and zebras in a natural setting. After the drive, you explore the other side of the park on foot, viewing animals in spacious enclosures while a park guide explains the behavior and needs of each species. The gift shop sits on-site if you want to pick up souvenirs before moving on.
Snake World comes next. A guide walks you through a collection of non-venomous and venomous snakes, as well as other reptiles, explaining their behavior, habitats and conservation. You observe the creatures safely in glass aquariums, and subject to park management approval, you can handle chameleons and non-venomous snakes for photos. This is the stop where most travelers get their most unexpected moment of the day.
The final stop is Kuimba Shiri Bird Park, founded in 1994 on the shores of Lake Chivero. A walking tour takes you through landscaped aviaries to see exotic and indigenous birds up close, with a guide sharing information about bird behavior and conservation. On Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, a bird fly display runs at 16:00 (weather permitting). The on-site restaurant offers a quiet place to rest with lunch, coffee or snacks before heading back.
