The experience

The day starts with a road transfer from Victoria Falls through Zambezi National Park into Kasane, Botswana, where you cross into Chobe. Your guide navigates the park's wildlife corridors during the morning game drive, tracking the world's largest elephant population alongside lion prides, buffalo herds, giraffes and zebras. The guide shares details about animal behavior and habitat as you move through different terrain, stopping where sightings are strongest.

After a sumptuous bush lunch and snacks, the afternoon game drive takes you into parts of the park where predators are often more active in the cooler hours. Late afternoon brings you to one of Chobe's waterholes, where elephants, buffalo and sometimes lions gather to drink. You watch the African sunset from this vantage point with a cold drink in hand, then return to Victoria Falls in the evening.

Top questions

Can children come?

Yes. Ticket types: Child (4 to 12 years); Infant (under 4): free.

What wildlife will I actually see on a Chobe safari?

Chobe National Park holds the world's largest elephant population, and the morning and afternoon game drives target lions, buffalo, giraffes, zebras and other species. Your guide positions you at waterholes and high-traffic zones where sightings are most likely, though wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.

How much time do I spend actually driving versus sitting at lunch?

The full day runs 12 hours from pickup to return. Morning and afternoon game drives make up the bulk of that time. Lunch happens in the bush between the two drives, and the sunset stop at a waterhole is part of the afternoon drive rather than a separate halt.

What's included in the bush lunch?

A sumptuous lunch is provided in the bush, along with snacks and bottled water throughout the day. The operator accommodates dietary restrictions such as vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free if you note them at booking.

Do I need to pay anything extra at the park gate?

Chobe National Park charges a $20 entry fee per person, payable directly at the gate when you arrive. This is separate from the tour price and collected on the day.

Is the road transfer from Victoria Falls to Chobe included?

Yes, the scenic road transfer from Victoria Falls through Zambezi National Park to Kasane and into Chobe is included, as is the return transfer to Victoria Falls in the evening.
