The experience
You start at Lydstep Point, a 10-minute drive from Tenby on the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. After a briefing at base, your guide fits you in a specialist coasteering wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet, then leads you down to the sea. From there the route follows the coastline the way it can only be traveled in water: swimming across rocky coves, scrambling over wave-washed ledges, riding the swell through natural gullies, and ducking into sea caves. One of them is a swim-through cave once used by smugglers. Your guide points out wildlife and hidden corners of the coast you simply can't reach on foot.
The cliff jumps build gradually, starting with small ledges and working up to bigger leaps for anyone who wants them. Every jump is completely optional. Your guide is just as happy coaching nervous first-timers as thrill-seekers. After around two hours in and around the sea, you head back to base, peel off the wetsuits and swap stories. The operator has been running sessions here since 2017 and holds full AALA licensing and National Coasteering Charter membership.

Top questions
Can children come?
Yes. Ticket types: Child (8 to 17 years). Children under 8 can't be included in the booking.
What happens if it rains?
It may be canceled due to bad weather. If that happens, you're offered another date or a refund. Free cancellation up to 24 h before the start.
Is this my first time doing coasteering? What should I expect?
Coasteering is scrambling, swimming and climbing along the coast using the sea and rocks as your playground. You'll move through water most of the time, using handholds and footholds on the rock face, and your guide teaches you how to move safely as you go. Every jump is optional, so you can skip the ledges and still have a full session exploring the caves and swimming the coves.
What's the swim-through cave like?
The cave at Lydstep was once used by smugglers and you swim through it as part of the route. Your guide leads you in and out, and it's one of the highlights most people remember most vividly.
How fit do I need to be?
The operator asks for at least a moderate level of physical fitness. You'll be swimming, scrambling and climbing for around two and a half hours, so stamina and comfort in the water matter more than strength.
Can my 8-year-old come?
Children are welcome from age 8. The guide scales the session to the group, and every jump is optional, so younger or less confident swimmers can explore the caves and coves without the ledges.
What do I need to bring?
Bring trainers or water shoes you don't mind getting wet. You'll wear them in and out of the water. The wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets are all provided.
