The experience

You get picked up from your hotel in an air-conditioned minivan and driven to the departure point. The boat takes you out to the islands where the water is clear and warm year-round. A trained guide leads you to the best snorkeling spots around the reef, pointing out the corals and marine life most visitors miss. All equipment (mask, fins, snorkel) is provided, so you just show up and get in the water.

The day splits between time in the water and time on the islands. After snorkeling, you'll have a break for a BBQ feast with grilled seafood, fruit, coffee and tea. The small group format means you're not jostling for space at the reef or waiting in lines on the beach. If you have dietary needs, let the operator know at booking and they'll prepare a vegetarian or vegan option.

The trip runs six hours total and operates in all weather, so bring sun protection and a light layer. You'll be back at your hotel by early afternoon with time to rest or explore the city. Infants and small children can come along. The activity isn't recommended for travelers with spinal injuries, poor cardiovascular health, or pregnancy.
